How to Stay Consistent in Business (When You Have Kids!)

As a mom with a business, I know how hard it can be to stay consistent. You want to make sure you’re providing the best for your customers and clients, but your kids need attention too. Add in all the other demands of life, and it can be overwhelming trying to find balance. But don’t worry—I have some tips on how you can stay consistent in business even when you have kids... I mean, as best as possible anyways!

Stay Organized

It’s impossible to be consistent if you don’t have an organized system in place. If you know exactly what tasks need to be done and when, then you can easily tackle them one by one. I recommend writing out a list of all the tasks that need to get done each week and breaking them down into daily or even hourly chunks. That way you won’t feel overwhelmed and will be able to focus on the task at hand without worrying about everything else.

What I have found works for me— I have all tasks in a task app and my Google calendar is jam packed, both apps are set with constant reminders. My phone nagging at me is why I manage to stay consistent. The first time it sends me a notification, I may be busy with the toddlers, but the 5th time, I may actually have that bit of time to complete the task.

Set Boundaries

Moms often think they have to do everything themselves and that their business needs them 24/7—but that simply isn’t true! You need time for yourself and for your family, so set boundaries around when work is “off-limits” or only available during certain hours of the day. This will help ensure that you are taking care of yourself as well as your business needs.

Especially in the 24/7 craziness that is web3. I have learned to allot time each day, sometimes at varying times, to my children. No one can book me for that time and I do not work. This allows for balance and I have learned that web3 will still be there afterwards, there's really no need to sacrifice time with my children for it.

Ask For Help

No one expects you to do it all by yourself—so don’t be afraid to ask for help! Whether it’s hiring someone part-time or outsourcing certain tasks, having an extra pair of hands can make a world of difference in both your personal life and your business life. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help—you may just find yourself pleasantly surprised at how much support is out there!

I mean I get it, as a mom, we often feel like we do have to do it all ourselves, but we really don't. And as a single mom, I just can't. I don't ask for help often, but I do ask for help and it makes all the difference. As an example, as a solo-preneur I have recently reached out to a friend (with a similar business vision) to help me talk through some business options and come to a decision, effectively alleviating the pressure of feeling like I am doing it alone.

Consistency is key when running a business, but not necessarily easy while also being a mom. Staying organized, setting boundaries, and asking for help are all great ways to ensure that you are able to both provide excellent service for your customers/clients while also carving out time for yourself and your family. It may seem intimidating at first but I promise—you can totally do this! And you always have me to support you through this journey!

With the right plan in place, consistency doesn't have to seem so daunting after all!
