The Mama Trailblazer's Guide to Crushing it in Business (Even When You're Going at it Alone)

Mama, do you sometimes feel like you're trudging uphill with a backpack full of rocks when it comes to your business? Like you're the only one who understands your vision and the hustle is all on you? It's no secret that motherhood plus entrepreneurship equals a giant, beautiful mess. But guess what? You're not alone in feeling alone. You have the power to blaze your own trail and rock this business thing, even when it feels scary or lonely. So take a swig of coffee, put on your boss face, and let's dive into some tips on how to blaze new trails in business!

Find Your Business BFF

Who says trailblazing has to be a lone-wolf endeavor? Look for a fellow mama entrepreneur to buddy up with (a good place to start looking is in our Geneva group). This way, you can share insights, bounce ideas off each other, and commiserate when things seem tough. Plus, having someone (or many "someones") in your corner who knows the ins and outs of juggling motherhood with business can make all the difference. So find that mama who shares your spark and make a plan to conquer the world together!

Get Comfortable with Failure

The thing about blazing your own trail is that you're bound to hit some bumps (or boulders) in the road. But guess what? Failure doesn't mean Game Over. In fact, it's often just a sign that you're growing and trying new things. Learn from those failures, brush off the dust, and keep going. Because the world needs your unique perspective and talents, even if you don't get it right the first, second, or third time around.

Just keep going.

Invest in Yourself

As a mama, you're used to putting others first. But when it comes to your business, it's time to put yourself on the priority list. This means investing in your knowledge, skills, and self-care. Take courses or workshops to hone your craft, many of which are totally free (or at a discount) for you via the group, network with fellow boss mamas, and don't forget to take breaks to avoid burnout. By investing in yourself, you're not only strengthening your business, but also showing your kids (and the world) the power of self-love and determination.

Embrace Your Mama-ness

Being a mama entrepreneur means you have a unique perspective and skill set that sets you apart from other business owners. Don't try to hide or downplay your mama-ness—embrace it! Use your experiences as a mom to inform your business decisions, and don't be afraid to show your human side, whether that means bringing your baby to a meeting or saying no to a networking event that conflicts with bedtime. Very few of my Zoom calls/Google Meets are without my children making a cameo...or stealing the show all togethe. But the point is, by embracing your whole self, you'll attract clients and collaborations that resonate with your values and vision.

Celebrate Small Wins

When you're blazing a new trail, it can feel like you're in it for the long haul with no end in sight. That's why it's important to celebrate the small wins along the way, even if they don't qualify as wins to others, if they do to you, celebrate them! Whether that means landing a new client or finally nailing your website copy. Taking time to acknowledge and celebrate your successes (no matter how small) can help stave off burnout and keep you motivated to keep trailblazing.

Mama, you are a trailblazer. You're juggling motherhood, entrepreneurship, and all the other roles and responsibilities that come with being a badass mama. While it might feel scary or lonely at times, don't forget that you're not alone—there are other mama entrepreneurs out there who get it. By finding your tribe, getting comfortable with failure, investing in yourself, embracing your unique skills, and celebrating small wins, you can blaze your own trail in business and create a life and legacy that aligns with your values and vision. Here's to you, Mama Trailblazer!
